Aristide BRUANT (1851–1925). Autograph letter, Moulin de Lif - Lot 263
Aristide BRUANT (1851–1925). Autograph letter, Moulin de Liffert near Courtenay (Loiret), June 24, 1918, to Mr. Touchard; 2 pages, in-8 (mourning). To his publisher, who is pressing him: “I’m going to have to ruin the ending of a novel that I’ve very conscientiously structured, which holds together well and contains a psychological study of the power of love that requires some development. *Cœur cassé* has been well-received, as I have already received flattering congratulations,” and he thanks Touchard for his advice, which “helped me perfect a good novel”—one he does not wish to rush, “which always makes a bad impression”—and he requests at least “32,000 lines”… [*Cœur cassé* was published in 1921 by Tallandier.]
