DURAS (Claire de). Ourika. Paris: Ladvocat, 1824. — In-12, 187 x 108: 172 pp., printed cover. Long-grain Lavallière half-maroquin with corners, gilt fillets, decorated ribbed spine, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (Stroobants). Second edition, published to benefit a charitable institution. It appeared a few months after the extremely rare first edition, of which only a very small number of copies were printed and never sold commercially. A very fine copy bound as a paperback by Stroobants for Victor Mercier. Provenance: Victor Mercier, with bookplate and the autograph note “Coll. comp. June 3, 1915” at the end (II, 1937, no. 902). – Raoul Simonson, with bookplate.
