Loose-leaf, pasted-down cover, publisher’s slipcase and dust jacket. A print run of 165 copies of this work, part of the *La Comédie animale* series, which portrays animals, including several from Africa (lions, tigers, monkeys, panthers, etc.). It is illustrated with 23 exquisite animal engravings by Odette DENIS. One of 35 copies printed on Marais vellum (no. 39), including a set of engravings with notes on Johannot. It is enhanced by an autographed dedication signed by Odette Denis, addressed to Madame Blondeau, accompanied by a beautiful original drawing depicting a panther licking its paw. Very well-preserved copy. Provenance: Madame Blondeau, with a dedication from the artist.
