A deluxe edition of this collection of essays on the Cuban-born painter Wifredo LAM (1902–1982), introduced by Alain Jouffroy. Among the testimonials are those by André Breton, René Char, Aimé Césaire, Michel Leiris, Pierre Mabille, André Pieyre-de-Mandiargues, Benjamin Péret, Tristan Tzara, Christian Zervos, and others. The edition features a rich selection of illustrations, including numerous reproductions of the artist’s works—nine of which are in black-on-black—as well as superb photographs, several of which depict Africa. Limited edition of 1,000 copies printed on Fabriano Ingres Cover paper.
