[ALMANACH]. Calendar of the court, taken... - Lot 3 - Ader
[ALMANACH]. Calendar of the court, taken from the ephemerides, for the year One thousand seventy-seven hundred and eighty-two. Printed for the Royal Family and House of His Majesty. Paris: Veuve Hérissant, 1782. - In-24, 104 x 54. White calf, golden rocaille plate on the dishes, enhanced with gouache with red and green outlines and flowers in the compartments, central part painted with an allegorical decoration representing on the first dish a hand coming from the sky catching what seems to be a parchment, and on the second plate a red central column surmounted by a personified sun, surrounded by two dolphins and what appears to be two swords, smooth spine decorated, gilt edges, red morocco slide case, decorated on the plates with a gilt roulette wheel in the frame and gilt irons in the centre, decorated edges (binding and case of the period). A well-preserved copy of this almanac printed for the royal family, in a pleasant painted binding of the period and kept in a red morocco slide case probably made for another copy. The back of this case is marked " New Year ". The dolphin emblem on the second plate made one of the owners of the book in the 19th century, who left a handwritten note, think that it was the copy that belonged to the dolphin Louis Joseph Xavier François de France (1781-1789), the eldest son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. This statement seems hasty and unlikely to us . Good copy despite the fact that the paintings are slightly faded and erased in places. The inside edges of the case are damaged.
