[circa 1820]. - In-folio, 558 x 395: title-frontispiece, (1 f.), 36 pp., 4 tables, 115 maps, 1 plan. - Rooted calf, gilt roulette wheel framed on the plates, smooth spine decorated, marbled edges ( period binding). Famous universal atlas initiated by the geographers Gilles Robert and his son Didier Robert de Vaugondy, revised, corrected and enlarged in this edition by Charles-François Delamarche. It consists of a superb title-frontispiece engraved by Baquoy, retouched by Barrière, a warning by Robert de Vaugondy, a Historical Preface in which the origin, progress and current state of geography are discussed, 4 tables, dated 1793, 115 double-page maps with coloured borders, and a Geometrical Plan of Paris and its suburbs, leaflet, dated 1797.T here are 3 additional maps compared to the table printed on page 36. These maps show the Kingdom of the Netherlands divided into its 18 provinces (1820), the Map of Germany containing the States of the German Confederation, the Kingdom of Prussia and the Empire of Austria (1818), and the General Map of America divided into its main States ( 1819). Restored hinges, caps and corners. Tear without missing repaired at map 93 (State of the Church, Grand Duchy of Tuscany and Isle of Corsica ). Provenance : Signature " Henri Louis Mouchet 1837 " on the first white guard.
