VOLDEMAR VOLKOFF (1932-2007) - Lot 140
VOLDEMAR VOLKOFF (1932-2007) Circular mirror. The curved frame in enameled stoneware with geometric motifs. Original glass. Perforation and original leather lace for wall hanging. Signed with the VOLKOFF stamp on the back of the ceramic part. Diameter: 25cm Trained in Montpellier, ceramist-painter Voldemar Volkoff honed his skills in Biot and Antibes before moving to Vallauris, where he frequented the studios of Roger Capron (1922-2006), Michel Anasse (1935-2020), Gilbert Portanier (1926-2023) and Gustave Reynaud (1915-1972). Participating in the 1970 and 1972 Biennales, he subsequently exhibited in France and abroad. His work is characterized by enamels with singular tonalities, and oscillates between figuration and abstraction with equal intensity. With a sensitive eye for the human figure, he devoted the last years of his life to pictorial compositions on stoneware or porcelain panels.
