GUSTAVE TIFFOCHE (1930-2011) A native of Saint-Nazaire, Gustave Tiffoche began his career as a draftsman at Chantiers de l'Atlantique, helping to decorate and build ocean liners. His introduction to ceramics came during an internship with the Pierlot family in Ratilly, followed by training at La Borne. He moved to Guérande in 1963, where he produced utilitarian and sculptural stoneware pieces, often monumental in scale. His work, widely exhibited and rewarded in France and abroad, then turned to architectural ceramics, before coming to an end in 1991 - when he decided to devote himself solely to painting.
