Ambroise SICARD (1742-1822) abbé, instituteur des sourds-mue - Lot 180
Ambroise SICARD (1742-1822) abbé, instituteur des sourds-muets. P.A.S., October 1821; 2pages in-fol. (Jean Lhomer coll. stamp). Long apostille in the margin of a petition from Antoine-Calixte Boutang de Fontarabie, of Collonges (Corrèze), who has become blind, can no longer continue his literary work, and is requesting a pension from the Minister of the King's Household. Sicard writes: "Abbé Sicard, who has been professor of seconde at the Collège Royal de Brive en Limosin, cannot speak highly enough of the petitioner. He never had a better pupil than him. He was the model of his fellow students, in application, virtue, progress, success, of every kind. He sincerely hopes that he will receive a worthy reward for his talents and virtues, and that he will be able to obtain the reward for his assiduous studies, and for all the good of which he has been an example, with regard to the entire class of which he has always been the flower". Also signed by the deputies of Corrèze: de Parel, d'Espeyrut, the general count of Ambrugnac, and other notables.
