Green and beige jadeite snuff bottle, China, 1760–1850 - Lot 109
Green and beige jadeite snuff bottle, China, 1760–1850 Rectangular in shape with rounded shoulders and crafted from two-tone nephrite, the bottle is carved in very shallow relief on its opaque beige side to depict a large rock and trees near a body of water where two figures are rowing in a boat. The other side features a very thin layer of brilliant green nephrite, which lies flush with and follows the contours of the bottle. It rests on an oval base. The stopper is made of coral and topped with a pearl. Height: 5.6 cm Provenance: Millon-Jutheau auction, Hôtel Drouot, July 2, 1984, lot no. 122 (illustrated).
