Alfred SISLEY (1839–1899). Autograph letter with watercolor, - Lot 243
Alfred SISLEY (1839–1899). Autograph letter with watercolor, to Arsène Alexandre; 3 pages, in-8. A lovely letter adorned with a watercolor. “Your letter touched me deeply. I never imagined I would find such a perfect friend in you. You pity me for my bad luck? But on the contrary, I believe I’ve been incredibly fortunate. I no longer have a friend, yet I’m gaining something priceless: a true friend. But I reserve the right to tell you much more about this in person.” He would need 2,000 francs to “pay off the most demanding creditors,” which would “give him a month of peace to work. “With that and the support of La Presse, I’ll be saved”… At the top, a watercolor drawing of a cherry branch in bloom.
