First edition of this novel, which first appeared as a serial in Le Figaro. After the success of "Numa Roumestan", Daudet once again attracted the attention of the Académie Française with "L'évangéliste", long considered the first Protestant novel in France. In the end, it met with a certain degree of scandal.
One of only a few copies printed on Hollande van Gelder paper, the only large paper with a few copies on japon.
A copy for the actor and playwright Jean Meyer (1914-2003).
Some minor rubbing to binding.
